A Flip of the Coin

A Spark of an Idea

Order and chaos, order and chaos, order and chaos, order and chaos…

The coin kept spinning in the air, at times spinning too fast to see and at others so slowly you could make our all the details…

They were the same, order and chaos…

No, that wasn’t right, they were part of the same greater thing…

Adamn came back from his daydream, or hallucination, he wasn’t sure which…probably hallucination. It was his turn and he was supposed to call it.

“Heads” he said quickly as the coin crashed back onto the table knocking over a small stack of chips.

The game went on for several hours and so did the drinking. Adamn knew to pace himself, not do too well in the game, and knew it was time to leave when he saw Striker finally heading towards the exit. The party had been fun, but it was time to go.

A couple blessings and handshakes later, and only down 50 credits, Adamn took his leave and headed back to the ship. Striker hadn’t been moving that quickly, but Adamn didn’t see him on the street and besides, he could take care of himself.

Deep in Thought

Back  on the ship a couple days later, Adamn flipped the coin he had won that night, watching it spin instead of working on the samples in the Medbay. What was the ‘whole’…what was it that chaos and order were part of?

Existence?

The thought seemed foreign…was it his own? Was Existence the “coin”?

“Holy shit! It’s you!”

Adamn turned to the open door to see Cam standing there and staring at him mouth agape.

“It’s me? Cam, what the hell are you talking about?”

Damn. I thought I had a new ability. Turns out it was you mucking around in my head. You should be careful about that. You are projecting your own thoughts...and secrets. Don't worry. They're safe with me."

Practice

Over the next several hours, Adamn and Cam tested his ‘abilities’ trying to figure out exactly what he could do and what he couldn’t. Very limited in scope, Adamm could pick up colors or images relating to the thoughts and feelings the target was going through at the moment. And he could send thoughts in a to a willing target. After several hours, Adamn and Cam could send images and thoughts back and forth almost instantly.

<A little about what Adamn did at Tony Gold’s party and wrapping up how Adamn discovers his psychic focus.  Chris let me know if I should change what Cam did or said or if you want me to add something. Lastly, Adamn didn’t ask Cam to keep this a secret, but he also isn’t going to go around telling people.>
