Player Character Afterlife

This is where those brave and noble (as well as the not-so-brave and not-so-noble) player characters come after they die or retire from the game. I have included a drawing and a short character description, as well as full Character Background at the bottom of the page, when available....

ORFAMEL...George Carston's half-ork barbarian with an extremely high-pitched and soul-grating voice was killed on March 4th, at the end of "The Party Hunted." Grinval was showing the party his maiden captives and offering them a chance to rescue them...of course if any party members died inside the Temple of the Ram...Grinval would get to devour their soul. Lenga, a fiesty female dwarf, physically attacked Grinval. Unfortunately, Grinval had a lighting bolt spell readied, and let it loose on Lenga. Lenga survived the blast, but poor Orfamel, standing directly behind Lenga was not so lucky. Orfamel's rather crispy remains were buried in the woods near the Temple of the Ram. KERBACH - Matt Johnson's human barbarian (3rd Level) was large, rough, almost good looking...and hung out in the bars and taverns of Greenmark quite a bit. He wasn't from this area, judging from his dialect and generally rough manners. He was quite likely from the edge of the civilized world, maybe from the Grasslands of Shronth. He drank a little too much and could be quite loud at times. He had his share of friendly rumbles and usually came out on top, by strength or the use of a very quick counter-punch. After the rumble he'd often buy the house a drink and have a good laugh about the fight. When drunk he sometimes spoke of a lost love. When sober he was fairly quiet, and occasionally complained about being low on cash. In full gear he wore some cheap medium armor, sheild and a very large sword he weilded one handed, along with a bow and a small ax. He'd wanted to make some cash...especially if it involved a fight!

Kerbach was killed on May 19th, 2001 during the
"Aftermath" adventure, wherein a large army of orks had been hired to capture the "Marked Ones" and return them to the Azure Keep to face all sorts of charges regarding the slaughter of a clan of kobolds. Kerbach threw himself into battle against a unit of huge battle-trained bears ridden by orks. Kerbach was torn apart by the bears in the courtyard of Widow's Grove. Kerbach s body was buried in the Mays Tomb, along side the generations of Mays Protectors.  He was buried with the magical bastard sword that all the Mays Protectors carried.  Later the tomb was raided, and the necklace of severed thumbs that Kerbach wore as a trophy was stolen from his body.  (Elder Players Group)

GREMAGE - Steve Bowden's Swaldune Sorceror (3rd Level) was known as Gremage of the Flinty Hills. He was about 6'3", and a wirey/ muscular 200 lbs. He had snow white skin, white/grayish hair, and no pupils in his eyes. He was clearly a Swaldune, and people noticed him when he walked unhooded through the streets of any town. He appeared to have connected with the other players of the group out of the companionship he enjoys.

Gremage was raised by an old hermit named Trask. Trask lived up in the snowy mountains of the Azure Kingdom, and many people in Greenmark speak of him as a retired but powerful mage...while others deride him as a crazy old fool.) Gremage remembered only Trask, and nothing before. But when he turned 21, Trask told him that 21 long years before a group of three powerful mages from the West brought a baby to him...this Swaldune baby was Gremage.

Gremage was killed on May 19th during the
"Aftermath" adventure, where in a large army of orks had been hired to capture the "Marked Ones" and return them to the Azure Keep to face all sorts of charges regarding the slaughter of a clan of kobolds. A lightning bolt called down by Vikos shattered the tower where Gremage and Collin stood...killing them both at Widow's Grove.  Gremage s head was severed and taken back to the Azure Keep as proof of his death, while his body was buried in the cemetery outside the walls of Widow s Grove.  (Elder Players Group)

COLLIN MACGREGOR - Mike Cross' Human Bard (3rd Level) was approximately 6 feet tall and about 12 stone (170 pounds). He had black hair and very dark blue eyes that made him look very mischievous whenever he smiled...which was most of the time. Although a very serious nature underlied his public persona, the public persona was of the happy-go-lucky bard.

He was more than a bit of a rebel. He heard all this talk about "The Greatness of the Azure Kingdom" but saw the fact that it's a dump, backwater and to his thinking no one was doing a damn thing about it. This Bard was constantly getting himself in trouble because he poked fun at the establishment through his music and jokes. Collin had lots of brothers and sisters, and grew up on a farmstead in the rugged hills to the northwest of Greenmark. His mother died during child-birth, but Collin's father still lives.

Collin was killed on May 19th during the
"Aftermath" adventure, where in a large army of orks had been hired to capture the "Marked Ones" and return them to the Azure Keep to face all sorts of charges regarding the slaughter of a clan of kobolds. Collin made a strange and mysterious deal with Alcald VanDrunan to remain in the shadow realm instead of passing on to his afterlife...how that deal will turn out remains to be seen.  (Elder Players Group)

Ganraith Imladris

Matt Johnson - Elven Ranger

Ganraith seeks to complete his father, Redrille Imladris' dream of closing the Storm Gates. Ganraith wants summer to return, so that he may restore his home in the Forest of the Ancients.

Backgrounds Below:

Kerbach - Matt Johnson

My character's name is Kerbach. From seeing him in the Taverns around Greenmark you know he is large, rough, and almost good looking. He isn't from this area, judging from his dialect, lack of reading skill and generally rough manners. He is quite likely from the edge of the civilized world, maybe from the Grasslands of Shronth. He drinks a little too much and can be quite loud at times. He's had his share of friendly rumbles and has usually come out on top,by strength or the use of a very quick counter-punch. Occasionally he is a little too drunk or overmatched, and will not do as well in a brawl. After the rumble he's happy to spend his last coin to buy the house a drink and have a good laugh about the fight, going over every move of the match. From one less than sober episode others could gather his is distressed about a lost love and has sworn off women for the time being. When sober he has been quiet, almost depressed looking and occasionally complains about being low on cash. In full gear he wears some cheap medium armor, sheild and a very large sword he weilds one handed, along with a bow and a small ax. He has asked around about what could be done to raise some cash...if it involves a fight that would be a bonus!

Kerbock the barbarian is from the Axe Clan. When Kerbock defeats a worthy foe, he would cut off it right thumb, dry it completely and where it on a necklace. The warriors of the Axe Clan do this to show others their power. He left the clan because a fair woman, Svettyanna. Kerboch and Svettyanna were in love. Grbac the son of the clan chief, Chewbac, also desired her. They dueled. Grbac was killed. Svettyanna even wept when he was killed. Kerboch ran for his life (with Grbac s thumb). He was also depressed at the loss of his clan and woman. He wants to go back some day win back both. On his travels to Greenmark, his horse, Silent Runner was maimed in a battle with orc bandits. It had to sent to the higher plains (get it?)

Gremage - Steve Bowden

Gremag of the Flinty Hills is a Swaldune Sorcerer. He is about 6'3", and a wirey/muscular 200 lbs. He has snow white skin, white/grayish hair, and no pupils in his eyes. He is clearly a Swaldune, and people notice him when he walks unhooded through the streets of any town. He appears to have connected with the other players of the group out of the companionship he enjoys. Over the past few months, he has told the party a few things about himself.

Gremag was raised by an old hermit named Trask. Trask lived up in the snowy mountains of the Azure Kingdom, and many people in Greenmark speak of him as a retired but powerful mage...while others deride him as a crazy old fool. Trask was once about 6 feet tall and very muscular, but these days he is gray, thin, and bent, and only about 5'6". He wears dark blue robes, and a belt of knotted rope that looks like a chain of stars. Gremag remembers only Trask, and nothing before. But when he turned 21, Trask told him that 21 long years before a group of three powerful mages from the West brought a baby to him...and baby of ivory white skin with no pupils...and asked him to raise the baby. Trask knew not to ask too many questions, for this was clearly a Swaldune baby. Trask had done some minor divinations after the mages left, and discovered that the baby was of high blood, and full of magical potential. After Trask told this tale to Gremag, he said it was time the young man saw the world. Trask handed Gremag all of his belongings carefully packed in travelling bags. Trask hugged Gremag hard, and said, "I have taught you all you can learn in a couped up old shack on the side of a mountain. You must leave the Flinty Hills and make your own way in the world. Remember these words I say most of all...AVOID YOUR OWN KIND. They will not accept you...and it could be that your true identity may bring you instant death at their hands. Avoid the soulless ones...." Trask turned away with tears in his eyes, walked in his little snow-covered shack, and left Gremag standing there with his travelling bags piled around his feet.

Luckily, Trask had taken the time to teach Gremag a thing or two about his natural abilities as a spellcaster. In the time you have gotten to know Gremag, you have found he has a good heart, and tries to do the right thing. On occasion though, he appears a bit wild and unpredictable!

Collin MacGregor - Mike Cross

Collin was born on a farmstead in the rugged hills to the northwest of Greenmark. He was the second of three sons born to Ian MacGregor by his first wife Ilene. She died bearing the third son Robert. Ian MacGregor was subsequently remarried to Mary MacDonald who bore him two more sons and three daughters before she too died in childbirth just two years ago, during the birth of little Heather MacGregor. All the siblings except Collin still live on the farmstead with their father, although there has been some talk of sending young Lilly (Lilith) MacGregor to Greenmark to live with Collin so she can be tutored in her letters. She has shown a great aptitude for book learning. Young Robert is also chomping at the bit to join Collin in Greenmark and study music, for which he has shown some ability.

Collin and Robert come by their musical ability naturally. Ian was a bit of a showman on the mandolin and the bagpipes at clan gatherings but never pursued the arts as a vocation, considering it to be frivolous. "'Tis no way to support a family", was a quote Collin heard often, and the subject remains somewhat sore between father and son. Ian maybe harbors feelings of jealousy as well as disapproval of the vagabond lifestyle of bards.

Ian still runs the family farmstead with the help of Collin's older brother Angus (age 21), and the younger siblings, as they are able. They tend the family sheep, hunt and trap, besides the 2 or 3 acres they keep in vegetables and barley.

Collin is approximately 6 feet tall and about 12 stone (170 pounds). He has black hair and very dark blue eyes that make him look very mischievous whenever he smiles, which is most of the time. Although a very serious nature underlies his public persona, the public persona is of the happy-go-lucky bard.

Collin is more than a bit of a rebel. He hears all this talk about "The Greatness of the Azure Kingdom" but sees the fact that it's a dump, backwater and to his thinking no one is doing a damn thing about it. Where are all these great hero's that this land is so famous for? All the current crop of so called adventurers care about is lining there own pockets, by picking the bones of a once proud people. This Bard is constantly getting himself in trouble because he pokes fun at the establishment through his music and jokes.

Some of Collin's immediate goals are to earn money so he can do the following three things in no particular order: Buy a house so he can bring Lilly to Greenmark, be able to hire a man for his fathers farm so he will agree to let Robert come to Greenmark, purchase a masterwork instrument. The long term goal of this character would be the reestablishment of The Azure Kingdom, if he ever became convinced that was possible. To start off with I don't think he'd think that was anymore than a pipe dream. A personal goal would be finding out information about the famous bard Dutton Hobbs. He romantically views himself as a kindred spirit to Hobbs. He thinks Hobbs is someone who would be doing what he is, if only he were still around.

Collin has a regular gig 2 nights a week at the Greengrape Inn, and is friends with the owner, Thomas Furfoot. He also occasionally plays over in the Castle Bar, in order to exercise his skills at playing his more "martial" songs of battle and such. He also goes to the Golden Hippogriph to pick up amazing tales from travellers in order to inspire new songs and stories, but he plays there only rare occasions when money is tight or he has an itch to have beer and food thrown on him!

Ganraith Imladris - Matt Johnson

Ganraith Imladris crouched on the high limb of the fir tree as he had for hours. His cloak was pulled tightly around him, so that his elvan eyes were all that showed. Snow fell from the sky in large clumps, and Ganraith's shoulders, arms, and thighs were piled with snow. He was perfectly warm...as he was used to the bitter cold that embraced the Azure Kingdom and the Forest of the Ancients.

"Damn the cold! Damn the giants! Damn the humans and their failures!" Hadn't it been the humans that made peace with the giants, only to let their Kingdom die...and Summer with it. Hadn't the man responsible for Ganraith's father's death been a human. The mad dreamer Zelagorn...with his dark mysterious ways and his promises to restore the Kingdom and Summer. Ten years ago those dreams came crashing down, when it was discovered that Zelagorn was evil, and had aligned himself with demons and other unclean powers. Ten years ago that Ganraith's father...who had joined up with Zelagorn...died in the siege that ended those dreams forever.

Ganraith wiped a tear from his eye. His father, Redrille Imladris, had trusted Zelagorn...right up to the end. When the Paladin Remington's forces broke the gates at Zelagorn's Castle, Redrille was still at Zelagorn's side. He fell in defense of the dream. The dream that one day those Gates would close, and life could return to the Azure Kingdom. Life could return to the Forest of the Ancients.

Ganraith laughed quietly, staring at the cold-damaged firs, and the dead skeletal figures of the other trees. In his youth, this had been a wonderous place...and his father and grand-father had been stewards of huge stretches of forest. Now Ganraith's stewardship consisted of the branch upon which he crouched. Now their was a new dreamer in the Kingdom. Javair.

Ganraith had to admire the brashness of this Javair's actions...actually setting up shop in the Azure Keep itself. Even Zelagorn was incapable of such an act of ego, and presumption. Ganraith scolded himself. Perhaps Javair was the one. Perhaps Summer would return. Even though Zelagorn had been a horrible fake and a failure...perhaps Javair actually dreamed of a better Kingdom. That was why Ganraith was leaving the Forest of the Ancients. Ganraith had decided to offer his help to a dreamer, as his father had done. Ganraith only hoped that this dreamer's dreams might come true. Ganraith jumped down and began his journey to the Azure Keep.
