Corvus Takes a Stand

    Chris Snevets

Corvus bumps into Cam. Cam looks like something is bothering him. He doesn’t even look up at Corvus as they approach each other. Corvus asks, “What’s wrong mate?”

Cam snarks back, “You probably want me off this flying turd as well?!”

Corvus looks unrequited and says, “Easy bud. What’d I do?”

Cam quickly retorts, “I saw the report. You all were going to have me thrown out!”

Corvus smartly replies, “I did no such thing! What report?”

Cam belays the story of meeting with Adamn and seeing a report with everyone’s name listed. He ends the tale with, “And so I gave the Mist bag to Adamn and he’ll decide what to do with it, I guess.”

Corvus formulates a plan and let’s Cam get on his way, “I’ll handle it. Don’t you worry.”

Corvus finds the stash of Mist in the med bay and replaces the Mist nebulizers with inert nebulizers. He takes the Mist to the local authorities and explains that he is on the Starlight Haven’s security force. And that while on vacation on Veridian, he was accosted by some hoodlums. He barely escaped with his life and that he was able to fight them off. They left behind this bag of 74 canisters of Mist.

He explains the situation and understands there is a reward for doing the right thing and getting this stuff off the streets. Corvus even shows them the scar from when he went down from his injuries. It was a long scar behind his ear and down his neck. The authorities thank him for his efforts and apologize for any injuries.

They ask if he needs to see a medical professional. They do ask who did the handiwork, pointing to his scar. Corvus tells them that his friend Camden Hendershot was lucky enough to be his savior. Corvus notices that they write all of this in a report and has Corvus sign the compad. He receives $30 credits each.

When it is discovered that the mist is fake, the crew blames Cam. Cam defends himself and even says he will take the truth serum drug to prove it. That’s when Corvus steps up and says, “It’s handled. The authorities have it.
